6 steps to the optimal user experience

The UX process of RISC Software GmbH explained in more detail

by Cand. Scient. Christina Hochleitner, MSc

In contrast to user interface (UI) design, UX design deals with the experience, i.e. the perception of the website. The focus is on the emotions that users feel when experiencing the web application. You can find out how to influence and improve the user experience and how RISC Software GmbH goes about it here.

Experience

The first impression counts

How often do you experience it yourself or see other users “struggling” with a web application or software product, getting nowhere or giving up in despair? Online shops that are illogically structured or confusing websites that do not offer a clear structure quickly leave users frustrated. If such behaviour is observed, we speak of a poor user experience (UX): Users do not feel comfortable on the application and, in the worst case, leave the application annoyed or do not complete the ordering process. A nightmare for every operator! The information and content can be as good as it is – if the UX design of an application does not fit, it will not be used and all the work was in vain.

RISC Software GmbH’s proven UX design process prevents such a bad experience. The design is considered from the beginning and the users are involved from the start of the software development. Ongoing analyses and adaptations ensure that the users of the software application achieve their goals and have a good feeling when going through the workflow.

Brainstorming about UX Design

6 steps to success

RISC Software GmbH has identified 6 steps that best represent the UX process:

1. Understanding

The brand, the product and above all the users must be understood by all developers and the UX designer.

2. Research

If it is a completely new design, assumptions should be tested and behaviour should be interrogated through user interviews, prototypes and usability tests.

3. Analysis

As a company with its own data analysis unit, the evaluation of the insights gained is extremely important. Through the results of the analysis, the users can be better understood and the target identified.

4. Design

In the next step, the findings are visualised and made visible for you and the end user. Feedback is continuously incorporated until the design can be finalised.

5. Launch

The software product is implemented by the development team in ongoing coordination with you.

6. Further analysis

The achievement of the goals is checked again and user feedback is gathered.

State-of-the-Art

RISC Software GmbH works in this entire UX process with state-of-the-art web technologies that enable customers and designers to work together collaboratively. The result is a software product that meets user expectations and can be implemented by the developers.
