Researching a Successful Path into the Future
Growth, Success, and Strategic Milestones
RISC Software GmbH looks back on an extremely successful year 2024. A total of 22 research proposals were submitted to highly competitive calls from national and international funding bodies such as the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG) and the Horizon Europe programme. Of these proposals, 13 were approved, while decisions on two more are expected by mid-2025. RISC Software GmbH took on the role of consortium leader in nine of the submitted projects, underlining its strategic positioning as a leading research institution. As a result of these successful submissions in 2024, RISC has secured an additional research budget of approximately 2.6 million euros for the next three years.
A particular highlight was summer 2024: Within the framework of the “AI Region Upper Austria” call, five projects were submitted, three of which received funding, with two of them – IASON and MEDI-DOK – coordinated by RISC Software GmbH. Two additional energy research projects with RISC involvement – SOLAR-SKIES and SmaChaCo – were also approved, rounding off a successful research summer.
A selection of successful research projects from 2024:
- QML4Med: Research on Quantum Machine Learning to optimize personalized medical applications.
- HEART: Development of an AI-based system for monitoring body fluid levels using ECG signals.
- IASON: Enhancing neurosurgical treatment through AI-supported simulation and analysis tools.
- MEDI-DOK: Digitization and automation of medical documentation processes through artificial intelligence.
- InProSSA: Integration of symbolic and subsymbolic solver paradigms to optimize industrial combinatorial decision problems.
RISC Software GmbH is also part of two ongoing EU projects:
- Platform-ZERO: Improving production quality in photovoltaics through zero-defect manufacturing.
- MetaFacturing: Digital transformation in metalworking through the implementation of digital twins.
With this track record, RISC Software GmbH strengthens its position as a key player and research partner in technologically demanding R&D projects.
