In Europe, on average 4% of all patients undergoing surgery die in hospital. 2% to 3% die in the hospital ward without having been admitted to an intensive care unit. A significant proportion of these patients die unexpectedly (1). The challenge is to recognize these patients in good time so that medical countermeasures can be taken.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The goal: <strong>RISC Software GmbH<\/strong>, together with the <strong>Department for Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine at the Medical Faculty of Johannes Kepler University Linz<\/strong>, <strong>FiveSquare GmbH<\/strong> and <strong>innovethic e.U.<\/strong>, wants to make an important contribution to solving this challenge: The goal of the AIMS consortium is to develop and validate an AI-based early warning system to detect deterioration in the condition of patients on the hospital ward at an early stage. This can support clinical staff in taking medical measures in a more timely, objective, and systematic manner, thereby increasing patient safety.
